Paulette C. Smith was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She took piano lessons from Omaha Music Teacher Association (OMTA) member Miss Lucia E. Wood, gradually moving on to vocal lessons at Notre Dame Academy and singing in their Concert Choir. She even made a trip to NYC with the choir and sang in the Harlem Baptist Church.
Paulette received her degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has a Bachelor of Music in Fine and Performing Arts with an emphases on voice and a minor in piano. Paulette also studied piano for a semester with Dr. James D. Johnson at UNOmaha in 1994 for personal advancement.
As an active teacher, Paulette has held each Executive Board office in OMTA, (except Treasurer), and finished her second term as President in 2012. She has also served as the NE Music Teachers Secretary from 2012-2015.
With 42 years of teaching experience, Paulette has also achieved personal success. Besides teaching budding musicians, she has also sung with the Omaha Symphonic Chorus, Clarion Chamber Chorale, Omaha Symphony Christmas Chorale, singing back-up for Andy Williams Christmas Tour, and “Soul Purpose” and “Eleven”, two Contemporary Christian Bands in the Omaha Metro. She has two CD’s made with Soul Purpose and Eleven. Paulette currently is Choir Director of the Traditional Choir at 9AM Mass at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church.
Paulette lives with her husband Tim and one gentle Doberman.
